Chris Deacon resigns as President of the British Baseball Federation

Chris Deacon has resigned as BBF President for personal reasons.

The BBF Board has named Lee Manning as Interim Presiding Officer until the election of a new President at the Federation’s Annual General Meeting on Sunday 17th November in Leicester.

Formal notification and detail of the AGM will be published tomorrow (2nd October 2024).

In his letter to the Board, Chris who was elected as President in 2023 said,

“The last three and a bit years since rejoining the Board have seen many highs on and off the field including the success at the World Baseball Classic, the evolution of ‘Our Future’, more engagement with the whole of the British baseball community as initiated under Tom Thornhill’s presidency and closer working relationships with BSF and BSUK.

“These changes are indeed positive steps towards improving the sport’s stability and future growth opportunities.

“It has been an honour and a privilege to work with so many volunteers across the whole of the baseball over the past three years and I look forward to the sport growing over the years to come.”

At its meeting last night, the Board accepted Chris’s resignation from President and Officials Commissioner.

“Chris has made a very big contribution to British baseball and has worked tirelessly as President over the past 10 months,” said Lee Manning, the Interim Presiding Officer. “We wish him well and thank him for his work in his time as a Board member.”
