FORMER GB HEAD COACH LIAM CARROLL JOINS BOSTON RED SOX

Former GB Baseball Head Coach, Liam Carroll, has joined the Boston Red Sox as an MiLB manager starting in time for the 2023 season.

Liam has been involved with GB Baseball as a player and coach since 1996 and joined the Great Britain coaching staff in 2004, coaching third base and running the offense for the U-18 National Team.

He remained on the staff through 2006 as an assistant, before being named Head Coach in 2008. He returned to work with the U-18s in 2010 and 2012, when he took the job as the U-23 manager.

Liam was announced as manager of the senior national team in early 2015 before standing down in 2020.

Over the last two years, Liam has been working with GB alumni Alan Dean and Will Lintern on the successful Smarter Performance programme which takes British players through an off-season development programme covering throwing, hitting and strength and conditioning.

“I know the whole of the British baseball community will join me in congratulating Liam on his appointment,” said BBF President Tom Thornhill. “His contribution to the sport in this country cannot be understated and he will be sorely missed.”
