GB U18s make history to reach European Championship semi finals

GB U18s have reached the semi finals of the WBSC European Championships for the first time.

The team finished second in Group B behind the Netherlands and will face either Germany or Italy tomorrow (Saturday 13th July) at 5.00pm.

The team lost their last pool game to Belgium 6-2 after the Belgians scored five runs in the top of the fourth inning.

GB scored two runs in the first inning after Leo De Giorgi singled and advanced to second on a balk. Shortstop William Kraemer drove in De Giorgi with a single.

Kraemer scored on a wild pitch having stolen second base before advancing to third on a fielder’s choice.

Starter Samuel White in action against Belgium going three innings and giving up just one run.

Several GB players were making their first start of the tournament and able to get good playing time in preparation for the medals games to follow.

A massive congratulations are due to Head Coach Erick Henson, his staff and all the players for this achievement
