GBWNT Open Tryout

Are you interested in trying out for the GB Senior Women’s Team and age group teams to represent your nation playing baseball in Europe this summer?

After successful events held in Tayport, Scotland, and Cardiff, Wales, GB Baseball coaches and staff are heading to Bristol, England, on Saturday, 12th of April, in their continuing quest to discover baseball talent from across the country.

The event in Bristol sees the continuation of GB’s commitment to not only discover but also showcase its own talent across the nation.

Alongside representatives of the GB U12, U15, & U18 squads, who will be looking to bolster their respective teams, the GBWNT will hold open tryouts to all women over the age of 12 who are interested in playing for the national side.

“With these Talent ID events, GB is employing international best practices in its constant search to upgrade and develop the best British talent available,” said GB WNT head coach Pietro Sollecito.

The Talent ID day will consist of various assessments designed to highlight individuals’ ability on the diamond. Attendees will be put through their paces to see if they have what it takes to pull on the GB uniform and join their fellow teammates on the international stage.

“These events focus on metrics which are crucial for elite baseball performance, and their discreet nature allows GB baseball to take the event on the road,” continued Sollecito.

As well as the ID day, the GBWNT will be showcasing their talents with a training session the following day as the women’s senior team continues their preparations for the 2025 WBSC Europe Women’s Baseball European Championship

The tournament is being held in the Czech Republic this August. There, the GB Women will take on the Czech Republic, France, and the Netherlands as the four teams compete for the European title.

Sollecito said, ”GB has already identified a number of promising new players during the first two of these events and is excited not only to identify where the talent is, but also to show British ballplayers and clubs what it takes to get to the next level.”

“It is vital that we are able to capture talent across the country and are delighted that the GB coaches are committed to these Talent ID Days,” said BBF President Richard Evans. “They are working hard to prepare their teams for European competition in the Summer and this is an ideal way to build a deeper relationship between club and the GB teams.”
