Mets and Capitals set for European stage

The London Mets and London Capitals take their places in the WBSC European Federation Cup qualifiers in Poland and Sweden this week.

The Mets, the current national champions, face teams from Poland, Georgia, Bulgaria and Ukraine int the Polish Round Robin while the Capitals are up against leading teams from Sweden and Norway.

The games can be followed through the WBSC Europe site throughout this week at https://www.wbsceurope.org/en/calendar

As well as the two top British teams, BBF umpires are represented at the Federation Cup Qualifiers as well.

One of our most senior umpires, Petter Nordwall is travelling to Sweden and will be part of the international crew for the week.

“I am proud to represent British baseball at the European stage. Looking forward to reconnecting with colleagues from across the continent and seeing how the London Capitals measure up against the competition,” said Petter.

Petter is not new to European baseball, he has officiated at three European Championships, many youth and club tournaments over the past 12 years.

“We wish both teams all the very best as we hit the European baseball season,” said Lee Manning, the BBF Development Official. “Its doubly pleasing that Petter will be part of the umpiring crew in Sweden.”
