A Shout Out To Our Officials
So far for the 2022 season, there have been a number of game-related incidents reported.
We are now two months into the 2022 season and unfortunately as a result of a number of on and off the field incidents, we need to take this opportunity to remind clubs, teams and participants of the codes of conduct which forms part of club and individual registration.
So far for the 2022 season, there have been a number of game-related incidents reported and being dealt with through the disciplinary process and disappointingly some of these incidents have been directed towards our volunteers, including umpires.
Umpires are a crucial backbone of our entire sport, as are officials in other sports, and form an essential part of any game. Our community is extremely grateful and supportive to those umpires who choose to participate in this way and willing player umpires who dedicate themselves to ensuring that a game of baseball is played across this country. Without umpires, it is just practice.
Without not only these crucial members, but our entire volunteer base there would be no baseball organised, umpired, or managed in the UK.
It is the responsibility of every participant to ensure that we follow the Federation’s code of conduct and terms and conditions. These processes and codes exist to ensure that every participant and member of our community has a positive on field experience and that the game of baseball and its participants are respected.
All registered members of our community have signed up to a code of conduct which outlines the requirements of players to:
• Respect every one of the participants.
Not judge others based on their abilities, errors, or losses.
Not use abusive language or behave in a bullying manner whether on or off the field including online via social media or other electronic means
Not be disgraceful, prejudicial to the interests of the BBF or the game of baseball.
Encourage a positive environment in which everyone can develop everyone's skill, competence, teamwork, and safety.
All breaches of these codes will be dealt with using the Federation’s disciplinary processes.
It is crucial that we all respect the game and our crucial volunteers that tirelessly work to ensure that baseball is organised, umpired and managed in a positive environment in the UK.
