Three youth programmes benefit from grant

London Mets Youth, the South West and Wales Baseball League and Norwich Iceni have been awarded over £3000 to develop their youth programmes.

An independent panel considered 10 submissions before making the final decision on the first such award from the BBF Development Fund thanks to a generous donation toward youth development.

“We had 10 high quality submissions and the panel found it hard to decide the eventual winners,” said Lee Manning, the BBF’s Development Official. “It was amazing to see the commitment from our clubs and leagues to work hard and develop your baseball which is the future of our sport.”

The London Mets are planning to invest in a range of player and field equipment that will ensure that players and public are kept safe as they work to expanding the club’s youth programme by between 10% and 50%

The South West and Wales Baseball League organised its first regional youth day in 2023 and plans to expand its youth development, supporting clubs and provide a range of player equipment for use across the region.

Norwich Iceni currently have around 40 youth players and want to introduce a sustainable youth league by 2025 as part of the club’s vision

The winning bids cover all ages of youth baseball.
