History made as GB Baseball announce U12 roster for European Championship Qualifier

GB Baseball has announced the U12 roster announced for the 2024 WBSC Europe European Championship Qualifier which gets underway tomorrow.

The team will be in Slovakia and will compete against Poland, Slovakia, Belgium, Hungary and Romania.

A first place finish will put the team into next year’s European Championships.

Three players - Wyatt Musil, Sebastian Taylor and Curtis Ward - will make history by becoming the first GB U12 players to be part of three rosters.

Curtis Ward, Sebastian Taylor and Wyatt Musil will make history at the U12 WBSC Europe European Qualifier

“Wyatt, Curtis and Seva, are always working on their game, always finding ways to win and are an inspiration to their teammates and future generations of ball players,” said Gavin Marshall, the BBF National Teams Programme Official.

"To have what it takes to compete on three separate national team tours at U12 level takes an enormous level of effort and commitment on the part of any athlete.

“The fact that these young men competed against Europe's best twice and are doing it again for a history making third time is testament to their work ethic and their love for the game.

“Our commitment to recognising and nurturing talent resulted in including them in the programme at such a young age.  We value talent that is never overlooked by the individual’s age and it is important that their introduction to international baseball is a memorable and positive one.

“We believe the mix of positive values, with the correct introduction will encourage and inspire future MLB stars to stay with the GB programme through their development years and hopefully guide them and inspire them to the next stages of their playing careers.

“We wish every single player the best for the competition and we know they will do the jersey proud.”

The team’s first game is against Poland at 9.00 am (GMT) on Wednesday 3rd July. The next day GB face hosts Slovakia.

Games against Belgium (12.00pm GMT) and Hungary (12.00pm GMT) follow on Friday and Saturday.

Romania will be the team’s final opponents on Sunday 7th July with first pitch at 9..00am (GMT).

All the GB Baseball games are available to watch on baseballeuropeTV and fans can also follow the team on the WBSC Europe website
