GB U18s prove too strong for Sweden

GB U18s proved too strong for Sweden in their second WBSC Europe European Championship game winning 10-0 after five innings.

Owen Bourgeois pitched a complete game shutout as GB overcame Sweden 10-0

Owen Bourgeois pitched a three hit, complete shutout striking out five Swedish players and walking none to grab the win.

He was well supported by the offense who put runs on the board from the first inning with  outfielders Travis Harfield and Cayden Allen having multi hit games and driving in four runs between them.

Travis Harfield had a good game with the bat and hit a two RBI triple in the top of the fourth.

Harfield also hit a triple in the top of the fourth which drove into two runs. GB were also effective with the running game stealing seven bases.

The pitching hero from the previous night, Colin Lebel, got the scoring under way with a single which scored shortstop William Kraemer. Lebel went on to score the second run after stealing second and third.

GB brought out the small ball in the second inning to keep the line moving with Leo De Giorgi’s sacrifice bunt scoring Bourgeois.

Another run was added in the third before GB pressed the accelerator with three runs in the fourth inning.

Harfield singled to left field before a single by Cayden Allen drove in Harfield and Lebel who had both stolen bases on their way to score. A single down the left field line from catcher Jack Warrington scored Allen as GB moved to a 7-0 lead.
