The University of Nottingham hosted a GB Women’s National Team-led baseball clinic this past weekend, giving university and local club players the chance to learn from championship winning coaches.
The session came about after Nottingham Robins University Baseball captain Eva Usher met GB’s Jessica Hastings at a Midlands women’s baseball friendly. Inspired by the encounter, Usher invited the newly crowned European champions to support the development of the university players and provide inspiration ahead of the upcoming season.
University players were joined by female players from local baseball clubs and taken through a range of drills, including warm-ups, throwing progressions, fielding and hitting. The clinic was led by GB’s Pietro Sollecito, John Baxendale, Dani Briggs and Jessica Hastings.
A key focus throughout the session was on the fine details that helped the GB Women’s National Team secure European glory in 2025, with players shown how small moments and marginal gains can turn a good play into a great one.
“This was great opportunity for the Robins to work on the foundations of baseball, and to have experienced coaches guiding us.” Said Nottingham University’s Eva Usher “Everyone came away with greater knowledge and experience of their game and it has motivated us for future fixtures”
Through sessions like these, the GB Women’s National Side continue to inspire the next generation and grow the game by sharing their knowledge and experience.
