GB announce new Director of Operations

GB Baseball is pleased to announce Craig Savage as its new Director of Operations, stepping into a key strategic role dedicated to supporting the GB National Team Program.

Savage arrives with a distinguished track record and a reputation as one of the most accomplished figures in the domestic game.

A 2023 inductee into the British Baseball Hall of Fame, Savage has left a long-lasting mark on the sport. During his time with Brighton Baseball Club, he guided the Buccaneers to multiple National League Championship Final appearances and titles, along with notable European achievements. 

“I’m really excited and humbled at the opportunity that this appointment represents, and to work with a dedicated team of staff and administrators at the heart of what has become a highly respected programme on the international stage across all age groups and categories.” said Savage “I truly believe there is so much more to come as we start to shape the future of the programme for the years ahead.”

Savage also brings valuable international experience. In 2003, he worked at San Diego State University with legendary coaches Jim Dietz and Hall of Famer Tony Gwynn, during Gwynn’s transition into collegiate coaching. The following year, he joined the Aztecs for Spring Training in Yuma, Arizona, and was invited onto Gwynn’s staff for the historic Aztec Invitational, the event that staged the first baseball game ever played at PETCO Park, setting the all-time college baseball attendance record of over 40,000, a feat that still stands today.

Outside of baseball, Savage spent four years coaching within professional cricket as part of the Sussex County Cricket Club staff, contributing to the club’s first County Championship title.

He also coached the England Blind Cricket Team, highlighting his adaptability and commitment to athlete development across multiple sports.
