Great Britain Baseball U23 Head Coach Jonathon Cramman has been named the 2025 European Baseball Coaches Association (EBCA) Coach of the Year at the annual EBCA conference held in Belgium.
Cramman, who has competed at every level of GB Baseball, began his national-team coaching career in 2019, initially managing the U15 squad while also serving as hitting and third-base coach for the U23s. He was part of the coaching staff that guided the GB Senior Men to their historic first win at the 2023 World Baseball Classic against Colombia.
In January 2024, Cramman was appointed Head Coach of the U23s ahead of that summer’s WBSC U23 World Cup in China, which marked the GB U23 programme’s debut appearance at a world championship.
“It is an amazing honour to be recognised by my fellow coaches” said Coach Cramman. “I must give huge thanks to my wife Beth, Drew Spener, Paul Stodart and Conor Brooks. None of it would be possible without them”
This year, his U23 side claimed their first-ever gold medal at a European Championship, defeating hosts Czech Republic 9–7 in the final. The victory also secured their place at the 2026 U23 World Cup in Nicaragua.
The EBCA Coach of the Year Award, established in 2008, recognises exceptional coaching achievements. Winners are selected through votes cast by EBCA members, global baseball supporters, and EBCA staff.
