Smarter Performance to host December Pitching and Catching Camps

This December, Smarter Performance Baseball is running two player-development camps at the University of Greenwich in New Eltham for pitchers and catchers. Designed specifically for pitchers and catchers training in the UK, the camps offer rare position-specific sessions delivered by experienced coaches. Joining the catching camp on 20th December will be guest coach Conor Baxter, a former GB U18 catcher and Associate Coach with the Milwaukee Brewers.

SP Pitchers Camp – Saturday 6th December

  • Ages 8-13 9:30 am – 12:00 pm
  • Ages 14+ 12:30-3:00 pm

What Players Will Learn

Pitchers Camp (6th December)

  • Pitching mechanics for power and efficiency
  • Age/development level appropriate warm-ups, arm care and recovery techniques
  • Grips for different pitches
  • Throwing and pitching drills you can do at home or with your club
  • Feedback on how to become your own best coach
  • Special Presentation on how to structure a throwing programme for players in the 14+ group

Catchers Camp (20th December)

  • Elite receiving techniques
  • How to block with confidence
  • Throwing footwork to cut down your pop times
  • Learn leadership techniques to help manage a pitching staff
  • Techniques to develop strength and mobility

Guest Coach

The catching camp will feature Conor Baxter, a former catcher with the U18 National Team who now works as an Associate Coach with the Milwaukee Brewers. Conor grew up playing baseball with London Sports and then Richmond before going to college in the US, where he spent four years at Transylvania University. Baxter has also had stints as a coach with the Cape Cod League and as a Graduate Assistant at Arkansas University.

Joining Conor are Dani Briggs, catcher and coach with the Women’s National Team, Conner Brown, a former catcher for the GB Senior National Team and Sy Gonsenuaskas and former catcher and coach from Canada.

The pitching camp will be supported by Sy and Will Zucker, a former GB U23 and U18 pitcher/infielder.

Both camps will be led by Will Lintern, Smarter Performance’s Director of Pitching and Catching.
