The World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) has today confirmed the hosts and group allocations for the 2026/27 Women’s Baseball World Cup and Great Britain now knows the challenge that lies ahead.
After their success in Czechia last Summer, ranked 15th in the world, Great Britain will head to Tainan, Chinese Taipei, from 23–27 August for the group stage of the competition. Awaiting them is a formidable line-up, including seven-time defending world champions and world number one Japan, alongside Venezuela, hosts Chinese Taipei, Cuba, and a yet-to-be-confirmed wild card entrant.
It represents a significant test for the GB squad, who will be aiming to make a statement on the global stage against some of the sport’s most established nations.
“The WNT is excited to receive confirmation of our placement at the Tainan World Qualifiers Event. “ said Head Coach Pietro Sollecito “We are currently working hard with the Quebec Women’s Baseball Academy in Amsterdam and plan to host friendlies in various locations domestically right up to our departure date. The team and staff plan to be at our best for the Qualifier and are going there to win and advance to the finals in 2027. We are honoured to have amazing support from the British baseball community and look forward to meeting many more of them in the lead up to our Qualifier Tournament.“

Only the top three teams from the group will progress to the finals, set to take place in July 2027 in Rockford, Illinois, the historic home of the Rockford Peaches, one of the most iconic teams in women’s baseball history.
Rockford will also host the second qualifying group, featuring the United States, Mexico, Hong Kong, Australia, Korea, and the winner of a play-off series between Canada and Puerto Rico.
For Great Britain, the draw presents both a daunting challenge and the opportunity to test themselves against the very best and continue the programme’s upward trajectory on the world stage.
