Great Britain’s Under-15 National Team returned from their Sweden Tour with a perfect record, capping a strong week with a hard-fought 9-7 victory in the fifth and final game of the series.

The result completed a 5-0 sweep, with Head Coach Ian Griebenow’s squad performing consistently across every aspect of the game throughout the week.

In a game that summed up much of what had come before, Great Britain built an early lead before being put under real pressure by a determined Swedish side that refused to go quietly. It took composure and some outstanding individual performances to see the job through.

Sebastian Balla led the way from the mound, delivering exactly the start his team needed. Attacking the strike zone from the first pitch, he racked up six strikeouts across three solid innings, setting the tone for the game. At the plate, Jeremy Kirk went 2-for-3 with two runs and an RBI, Matt Johnson hit a triple and drove in two, and Lloyd Kirby made the most of his opportunities with an RBI and two runs scored from just one hit.

As Sweden threatened to close the gap, the bullpen rose to the occasion. Stevie Guillet battled through a testing middle stint before Curtis Ward closed the game out, recording five crucial outs on just 11 pitches, a composed and efficient performance when it mattered most.

The series result reflects a team that performed consistently from start to finish. The pitching staff stood out throughout, with starters, relievers, and catchers all fulfilling their roles with maturity and commitment.

Reflecting on the tour, Head Coach Ian Griebenow was full of praise for his squad:

“I’m incredibly proud of this group. To come away from Sweden with five wins from five games is a testament to the work ethic, character, and togetherness of every player and coach on this trip.

“Throughout the week, our pitching staff has been tremendous. Starters, relievers, catchers, everyone bought into their role and competed for each other. That’s a big reason why we’re leaving Sweden with a 5-0 record.

“Most importantly, the players represented Great Britain with class on and off the field. They’ve worked hard, supported one another, and earned every bit of this result. It’s been a fantastic week and one that everyone involved should be proud of.”

Great Britain extend their thanks to their Swedish hosts for a well-organised and welcoming series. Five games, five wins and a group of young players who have shown what wearing the national shirt means.
