BBF Senior League – Week 3

By BBF in Home Page, News

With Liverpool’s trip to Leicester being rescheduled, there were only three series in the NBL as we look back at Week three of the 2026 British Baseball season.

National Baseball League

In the North, Sheffield Bruins made the journey down the M1 to face Long Eaton Storm. A five-run fourth inning gave Storm a 7-2 lead heading into the final three innings, but the Bruins hit back with three runs in the fifth and one in the sixth to make it a one-run ballgame. Long Eaton pitcher Keanu Stoltz, however, had other ideas, retiring the side in order in the final inning to seal the win for the Storm.

Game two was a different story entirely, as a dominant Bruins offense scored nineteen runs over five innings to run out convincing 19-8 winners, taking their season record to 3-1.

In the South, the Essex Arrows hosted London Mets looking to extend their strong start to the season. Game one was a tight affair, with the Arrows holding a slender 1-0 lead heading into the fifth inning before both teams exchanged 4 runs. Essex then added another four in the sixth following London’s three-run top of the inning, before bringing in Adoni Jose Galvez Rodriguez to close things out with a one-two-three final inning, ending the game 9-7.

Game two proved equally compelling, with the lead changing hands five times throughout. Essex trailed by two heading into the bottom of the final inning, but Angel Perez’s clutch single brought home the third run as the Arrows walked off 10-9, taking their season record to 3-1.

Yeovil Whirlwinds at Bristol Brunels

Croydon Pirates travelled to Grovehill Park to take on Herts Toucans in what proved to be a dominant first game for the visitors. Pirates plated five runs in the opening inning and, despite the Toucans managing two runs in the fifth, Croydon remained largely in control throughout, adding one more in the final inning to take the win 6-2.

Herts bounced back emphatically in Game two. Pitchers Johan Villanueva and Masa Hashiguchi combined to give up just two hits and one run between them, while the Toucans’ offense came alive to run out 9-1 winners and level the series.

Division 2

There was only one doubleheader in Division two this week, with Essex Saxons visiting Herts Cardinals. Game one saw Woohyoung Cho homer as the Cardinals ran out 11-7 winners. The Saxons’ Alberton Novas hit his third home run of the season in Game two, but it wasn’t enough as the Cardinals came from five runs down to take the game 6-5 and claim the series sweep.

Division 3

Division 3 produced a remarkable four hundred and fifty seven runs across twenty two games this week. The standout performances came from Wragby Warhammers, who put up an impressive twenty seven runs in a 27-11 victory over Bootle Trojans, and London Meteors, who ran out 20-4 winners against clubmates London Marauders.
