The British Baseball Federation (BBF) is proud to announce that June’s GB Women’s Baseball Invitational Tournament has received official sanction from the world governing body, the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC),

The tournament is the first event in Great Britain’s baseball’s history to receive this recognition.

It will take place on Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th June 2026 at the Farnham Park National Baseball and Softball Complex, Slough.

Great Britain Women’s National Baseball Team (GB WNT) will compete against the national teams of South Africa and Czechia in what will be a landmark weekend of international baseball on British soil

In confirming the sanction, WBSC acknowledged that all three participating nations will field their adult national teams, underscoring the serious international standard of competition that will be on display at Farnham Park.

As an officially sanctioned adult national team competition, all results will contribute directly to the WBSC Women’s Baseball World Rankings.

The WBSC recognition marks a watershed moment for women’s baseball in the Great Britain.

The GB WNT are the current European champions and are ranked 15 in the world. Czechia are ranked 18 and South Africa currently sit at 25.

At the end of August, the GB WNT will travel to Tainan to take part in the World Cup qualifier against the host nation, Cuba, Japan and Venezuela.

“The recognition of this event by the WBSC not only acknowledges the achievements, commitment and skill of the national women’s programme but also shows support and encouragement to every single woman and girl who step onto club baseball diamonds across the country,” said Richard Evans, President of the British Baseball Federation.

“The British Baseball Federation remains committed to the continued development of the women’s game, and this tournament represents a pivotal step forward in that journey, providing elite international competition on home soil and growing the profile of women’s baseball across the nation.”

Full details on the tournament and the weekend’s accompanying events will be released later this month (May 2026).
