Great Britain U15 made an outstanding start to their Sweden series with a commanding 21-7 victory over the hosts in the opening game of the tournament.
A powerful all-round team performance saw GB dominate from the outset, combining an explosive batting display with strong pitching to secure an impressive win.
At the plate, Cameron Griebenow led the charge with a flawless 3-for-3 performance. Wyatt Musil was equally influential, reaching base six times thanks to a hit and four walks, while scoring twice and driving in two runs.
Hugo Esperon also played a key role, reaching base four times, scoring three runs and contributing a hit, an RBI and three walks. Chi Hong Wong drove in three runs and scored twice, while Lloyd Kirkby added three RBIs of his own during a productive afternoon for the British offence.
The depth of the squad was also evident, with Ben Szigayli, James Theodorkais and Taylor Wormington each coming off the bench to score three runs.
On the mound, Matt Johnson set the tone with a dominant start, striking out six batters across 2.2 innings. Seva Taylor followed with a composed scoreless relief appearance, recording two strikeouts in 1.1 innings.
Overall, the Great Britain pitching combined for 10 strikeouts while limiting Sweden to just four hits.

Following the victory, Head Coach Ian Griebenow praised both the performance and the opportunity it provided for player development.
“Matt Johnson gave us a dominant start on the mound and really established the tone for the game,” said Griebenow. “We had some key hitting early that allowed us to build momentum and pave the way for the victory. One of the biggest successes from today’s game was being able to give 20 players valuable Great Britain game experience. That’s a huge part of what we’re building within this programme, and it was fantastic to see so many players contribute to the win. The experience these players gain in international competition is vital to their development and the future success of Great Britain Baseball.”
The victory provides Great Britain with the perfect start to the series and underlines the strength and depth within the U15 programme, with contributions coming from throughout the line-up in an impressive opening performance.
