Friday 5 June to Sunday 7 June marks Major League Baseball PlayBall Weekend, a weekend dedicated to children playing baseball across the globe.
Events will be taking place in Japan, Egypt, the Dominican Republic, India, Australia and many other countries around the world, with Greenwich Giants hosting the only official MLB PlayBall event in the UK at the University of Greenwich’s Avery Hill campus on Saturday 6 June.
The event is open to all ages, and first-time players are welcome.
“We are so excited to bring the thrill and joy of Major League Baseball to the children of Southeast London. The day is perfect for anyone who has ever thought about hitting a home run or wanted to try their hand at pitching — regardless of ability or experience.” said club chair Will Lintern.
9:45–10:45am — Session for children aged 4–7
11:00am–1:00pm — Session for children aged 8–14
1:30–3:00pm — Open session for all ages, including adults
There is no charge to join the MLB PlayBall event in Greenwich. The first 100 children will receive a free T-shirt and gift bag.

As youth baseball continues its growth across the UK, there are weekly youth sessions up and down the country welcoming new players every weekend.

Anglo-Irish Baseball Tournament hosted by Hildenborough Hurricanes which will feature the Hurricanes, Buccaneers travel team and the Irish Baseball Academy Team. Spectators are welcome to come along to Sackville School in Hildenborough, Kent.

Co Durham – Co Durham Spartans will host an open session at Parkside Academy, Willington from 9.30am – 11am for children aged 5-11

June 7th (PlayBall Weekend)

Newcastle – Newcastle Baseball Club will host an open youth session for children 8 – 13 from 9.30am – 11pm ahead of the senior team game against Leeds Locos.
